Frequently Asked Questions

Hannah Angell Osteopath in Egham and Surrey

What should I wear?
As with any medical examination, you will usually be asked to undress to your underwear, so please wear something you are comfortable in or bring shorts and a vest. During osteopathic treatment Hannah will need to examine the part of your body that is causing pain and check everything is moving correctly.  If you have any concerns about undressing please mention this when booking your appointment so we can do our best to accommodate you.

Can I bring a friend or relative?
Yes – if you wish, you can have someone present throughout your consultation and treatment.

Does it hurt?
Some soft tissue treatment may cause discomfort during treatment. Your osteopath will tell you what to expect, and will want you to let them know if you are in pain. You may feel stiff or sore after treatment. This is a normal, healthy response to the treatment.

Do I need to see my doctor first?
No, you do not need to see your doctor first if you are paying for your own treatment. However, some insurance companies require you to see your doctor first.

Hannah is registered with Pruhealth, Aviva, Cigna, AXA and WPA health insurance companies - if you would like to seek treatment through one of these companies, please inform Hannah when you make an appointment, for other insurance companies (including Simply Health) just ask.
